  1. Iftikhar says:

My heart sank when Humzah texted me about this devastating news at the end of my meeting as I was leaving for home. I turned back to the office, performed my prayer and made a du’a for them, their parents and families. How on earth are their parents going to cope with this, were my first thoughts!!
The remarkable patience, courage and dignity shown by the parents in the face of such circumstances can only be found in the holy textbooks. The tension and anxiety in the community at the time only needed to light the fuse, the result of which would have been catastrophic for Britain. Instead the families elevated themselves to show us (easily said than done in these circumstances) that inhumane thugs and criminals have no place in any society, race or religion. The parents’ foresight to say that they did not want any other parent to suffer what they were going through was a remarkable statement of nobility and humanity. It is unbelievable to see that even in today’s society we have/had angelic characters living amongst us as humans.
I would sometimes get my car washed from Shazad. He would also be very polite, very receptive and inquire everyone’s well being. He was a Hafiz and a graduate. Notwithstanding that, he had no hesitation washing cars to earn his halal living rather than get involved in drugs/gangs etc. as appears to be the excuse for some. He leaves a widow and a child who has yet to enter this world!
It is an irreplaceable loss for the parents, families and the community. May Allah shower them with His mercies for their martyrdom and for parents for saving our society from further bloodshed? It leaves us with a shining example for society to live up to. We are proud of you. You are gone but not forgotten.
The administration, with its full might, must deliver justice swiftly and firmly to maintain confidence of the community.

May Allah forgive them & us for all our sins & shortcomings. Have Mercy upon us all, May Allah Save them and us from the hell fire, & azaab of hereafter please grant us all your mercy and grant them the highest place/status in jannah (paradise)

It is always a very difficult and trying time when one mourns/ come to terms with the loss of loved ones. In situations like this I pray may Allah Give the family and friends of those that have gone strength, patience and understanding, May Allah Guide them & us unto the right Path. Ameen.

I would like to say what a formidable inspiration Mr Tariq Jahan has been is to the whole of the local, national and global community. We could all learn a great deal from this man. I hope you, yours and the families of the other two brothers can seek some solace in knowing that these brothers passed away in the Holy month of Ramadan, & died Shaheeds (martyrs) In Islam.

Sad that they went in this way, but as we all know we belong to Allah and to him we must return, Allah is the all knowing, the Greatest, the merciful.

we attended the funeral of Haroon, Shazad & Musavir, it was such an emotional and humbling experience. It was nice to see a major part of the Muslim community come together, although the circumstances where sad & unfortunate, the mood was somber as one would expect. There were in excess of 20 000 people who attended the funeral with many more from different communities also present. The whole event was beautifully organised and supported well by the Birmingham city council, leaders & scholars of the Muslim community who had some wonderful words and thoughts to share.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones. May Allah Have mercy upon us all. Ameen.

  4. Alison, South Birmingham says:

Living in Birmingham I was at first shocked by the ferocity and mindlessness of the riots and then ashamed and deeply saddened by the loss of these 3 young men and thought I would wait a little to add to the messages of condolence as I was so touched by Mr Jahan’s comment during a TV interview that ‘the world would forget his family’s tragedy in a few days’ that I wanted both families to know that my family and all who I know all over the country have been truly saddened by your loss and are humbled by your dignity and courage. Please know you are in many people’s hearts and will be for years and years to come.

With my very best wishes to you all and your strong community.

To all affected; You have all acted in the gravest of circumstances with enormous bravery, integrity and community leadership. The loving memory of your boys will live on to many hundreds of thousands of people who didn’t know them through your continued integrity, bravery and community leadership. Out of this deepest pain has sprung an opportunity for your families to show not just the rest of Birmingham, but the rest of the world the untapped good ordinary people can achieve if they would only seize the chance like you have done so far. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have lit candles for the three young men and said prayers for them and their families. On the day of the funeral I was coming out of my house, I live by Warley Woods, the air was still and I could here the prayers coming from Summerfield Park, and I added my own, it was sad and comforting at the same time to think so many people were as one at that time.

  25. Akeela says:

It still hasnt sunk in yet, i dont know when it will but im praying that you are in a better place now where ever you are.

I noticed Musavir being much happier in recent months. He recently started praying reading the Quran. Shazad was a Quran hafiz and the family joker. He would tease you but it would always make you laugh. He found everyone and anyone cute. That was his favourate word ‘cute’. Then everyone started using it to copy him. His lines were original and entertaining. We still can’t help but use them. The boys left a big impression on the family. Its going to be impossible forgetting them.

These boys would be the first to turn up if you had any problems. Always there for you, down to earth and very friendly. Real men. True soldiers.

Both of you have made it to the other side now and I pray I will meet you in Jannah one day inshallah. May Allah guide us all and unite the ummah. May you rest in peace and be granted the highest level of Jannah inshallah. You guys deserve it.

    Your cousin,

  31. Salma Hussain says:

I just wanted to say how truly heartbroken I have been since hearing about these tragic losses, and it has touched me to the point of being unable to stop the tears streaming down my face. I feel so helpless and at a loss to what to do after seeing all the publicity surrounding the deaths, and the raw grief of the family.
The amount of people who turned out for the funeral of the three shaheeds/martyrs is testamount to how many lives they touched in their short lives.
My heart aches for their families, and I truly admire how courageously and admirably they have coped in the public eye, and the strength they have shown to both muslims and non-muslims.
They were fortunate enough to be taken in this auspicious month, and I pray their loved ones get the strength and sabr to deal with their loss. You are all in my prayers! x

  46. Laurence Dee says:

From an American observing many miles away the behavior of the residents in these communities to confront and resist those who were commiting ruthless acts of violence, looting and other brazen acts, I say well done. This is the Britain we Americans know. Furthermore the sense of community that followed to clean-up the streets after the cessation of violence even though the residents were not partners in the mayhem illustrates the unselfish character of the people of London. We can sympathize with you and we feel your pain. The sense of shared community between faiths and even by those of us here thousands of miles away gives hope to a much better future for all mankind.

  47. sanah butt says:

  48. Sabina says:

Dear family & friend’s of Shazad, Musavir & Haroon.

I don’t know the 3 martyrs at all. Ever since their passing, I’ve felt incredibly heartbroken. It still feels like I have lost my own family member. I wish I had known them because from what I’ve heard about them, they seem such sincere, down to earth and humble men.
You have raised them up so well. They weren’t sitting around doing nothing with their lives. They were working, studying and starting their own families.
I pray Allah will grant the brave Shaheeds with Jannat. They did what not many people would do-protected the streets, people’s livelihoods, businesses. EVERYONE will remember them. We are all praying for your sons and you the family.
The Janazah was emotional but beautiful, over 20,000 people came to pay their respects, pray and show support. These 3 brothers are very special and we all hold and cherish them in our hearts. Allah only calls up the special ones first and during Ramazan. It is truly a blessing as the gates to hell are closed and Gates to heaven are open.
I hope you continue to stay strong, remember your are not alone, you have Allah, your family and off course the support of the community. We hold such high respect for you. Abdul, you stay strong. Your brothers are watching over you. You’re going to be an uncle soon, a part of Shazad still with you :)

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiun Shazad, Musavir & Haroon.

    Rest In Peace
